Argaty Red Kites
Absent in Scotlands skies for over a century
following years of persecution, red kites are slowly making a comeback
thanks to an exciting project to re-introduce them. Visitors to the farm
can now enjoy fantastic views of one of Scotlands rarest breeding birds
thanks to an exciting partnership between the landowners, RSPB and SNH to
provide a feeding station. Support for the project has also been given by
Leader +. Red kites are most abundant through the winter months ( October
March) when they form large social groups. A purpose built hide offers
great close-up views of the kites coming down to the daily feed. As well
as viewing the spectacular red kites, visitors can participate in guided
walks (April 1st September 15th) to see the wide variety of wildlife and
sites of historical and archaeological interest, which abound on the farm. Mr & Mrs Niall & Lynn Browser
